Description:

1961 Porsche 356B Super-90 Roadster VIN 88881

Special ordered with a Super-90 engine from the Porsche factory. This was the most powerful 356 yet. Pushing out 90 DIN HP, thanks to a higher compression, a modified cylinder head, new Solex carburetors, bigger valves and lighter cylinders, the Super 90 was capable of up to 110 miles per hour - super performance for the period. The color was also custom ordered in Black with a Red interior - extremely rare factory color combination.

All the metal work, body, prep for paint & paint work was performed by a well known Porsche 356 restorer in Los Angeles, California to Concours condition. The 356 was then sold after the paint work was finished. The original Super-90 engine was rebuilt by Dick Aubele 356 repair of Frazier Park, CA. The reassemble of the S-90 Roadster was done by Liberty Motorsports in Costa Mesa, California: including a full undercarriage detail and detail of all suspension components, many NOS (New Old Stock) parts were installed which were restored by Victor Miles of Concours Refinishing, new wiring harness, installation of the brakes with all new components, installation of the rebuilt 741 manual 4-speed transmission & S-90 engine, all new chrome, new rubber and complete new interior. The restoration was finished in 2011.

Absolutely one of the best 356B Roadsters we have had. Simply a stunning example! Less than 1,000 miles on this beautiful restoration. One of only a few that were special ordered in this rare and very hard to find color combination!
