1966 Volkswagen Type 2 Single Cab Transporter Pickup - VIN 266122344

This T1 Single Cab is amongst the rarest variants of the Volkswagen Type 2, presented in a two-tone Velvet Green and White accents. The Transporter has recently undergone cosmetic and mechanical restoration, maintaining its original color combination of Velvet Green and White over Grey upholstery. The paintwork is in excellent condition and features the VW emblem and safari-style front windows. The cargo bed has been nicely redone with wood slats, offering durability and style, making it suitable for utility or display. The cabin showcases grey upholstery, a factory steering wheel, a fuel gauge, and an 80-mph speedometer. Chrome 14″ steel wheels feature matching VW hubcaps mounted to 185 R14 Hankook Vantra LT tires.

In 2019, a paint shop in Pleasanton, California, repainted the Transporter Pickup. Various components were procured from Wolfsburg West to facilitate the complete reassembly of the Transporter Pickup with OEM parts. The front and rear safari windows were obtained from Wolfgang International. The upholstery was sourced from TMI Automotive and was subsequently installed by Bailey and Sons Upholstery. On September 23, 2019, LaVere's VW and Audi resealed the engine, replaced any worn components, and installed a new Type II muffler. While the engine was out, the transmission underwent a comprehensive rebuild.

Service History 2020 - Present:
- Replaced both axle boots
- Replaced all brake wheel cylinders
- Replaced steering drag link tie rod
- Replaced rear brake cylinders
- Replaced brake master cylinder

Powered by an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four engine, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, with four-wheel drum brakes. Most recently, an oil and filter service was performed and the brakes were adjusted. The Transporter Pickup is not merely a vehicle; it represents a piece of timeless automotive design and would constitute a valuable addition to any collection.
