1965 Porsche 356C Coupe

• Chassis No. 219333
• Engine No. 715616
• Transmission No. 81326
• Completed August 17, 1964

The final version of Porsche's 356 series, No. 219333, was delivered new by Competition Motors in Culver City, California, to its first owner, Mr. Burns from Las Vegas, Nevada. Finished in the factory color combination of Champagne Yellow over Black upholstery.

The paint work is beautiful and shows very well with original trim, glass, 128 Hella fog lights, and brightwork, contributing to a well-preserved 356. Inside, the cabin features correct period details, including VDO gauges, a VDM steering wheel, a clock, and a glove box. The 15 x 4½ chrome Lemmerz wheels are mounted to Vredestein Sprint 165 15 Classic tires. The floor pans are original, and the undercarriage and suspension are nicely detailed.

The service records on file outline California ownership history from 2011 to the present, spanning three owners, with over $34,000 in documented receipts. The prior owner, Mr. Veytia, acquired the 356 in 2015 and undertook several mechanical updates, including the installation of new tires, a valve adjustment, brake service, a 6V to 12V booster conversion, rebuilding the link and kingpins, and installing a new muffler. In 2016, the transmission was rebuilt by Scott's Porsche Parts in San Diego with new sychros, gears, and gaskets; $3,000 was spent. A period-correct 356C engine was built to SC specifications and installed in 2018 by Original Six Porsche in Eagle, Idaho, along with a new clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. In 2019, Koni shocks were installed, and the carburetors were re-jetted for improved drivability. Recent enhancements include a 6V electric fuel pump with a pull switch and a new fuel petcock.

This 356C is powered by a period-correct 1600cc flat-four engine (Type 616/15) producing 95 hp, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission (Type 741). The 1964-1965 was the first 356 model to feature standard four-wheel disc brakes; the C series remains especially usable and enjoyable on modern roads. Complete with a partial tool kit, Porsche Kardex, Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and spare wheel. This is a well-sorted 356 ideal for an enthusiast seeking a reliable driver.
