An exceptional early three-gauge, short-wheelbase 912 with matching engine, a four-owner Southern California 912 finished in its factory exterior color of Aga Blue (6608) over Red upholstery. Completed on January 12, 1966, this 912 was delivered new by Competition Motors of Culver City, California, to its first owner, Mr. Sherk of Orange, California. Factory options include tinted glass all around, a loudspeaker, and a wooden steering wheel, resulting in a well-specified and highly desirable early configuration.

The Aga Blue paintwork is in pristine condition, with excellent panel fit and perfect gaps. The brightwork, aluminum trim, rubber seals, and glass are all in outstanding condition, reflecting the high quality of the restoration. The interior features comfort seats with houndstooth inserts, a refinished wooden steering wheel, brushed aluminum dash trim, a Porsche radio delete plate, and VDO instrumentation with green script. The chrome 4½ x 15-inch slotted steel wheels are mounted to Michelin XZX 165 SR15 tires (date code 2024). The suspension components and undercarriage were stripped to bare metal and undercoated to factory specification, and are solid and rust-free.

According to documentation, the 912 remained with its original owner until 1973, when it was sold to its second owner, Mr. Haynes, who retained the 912 for three decades, maintaining it carefully and driving it sparingly until 2009. Ownership then passed to Mr. Woodfine of San Diego, California, who continued to preserve it. In 2021, the 912 was acquired by its fourth owner, who commissioned a concours-level restoration.

The bodywork and paint were entrusted to SV Body and Paint in El Cajon, California, who performed a bare-metal, glass-out respray in the original color, Aga Blue. The engine and transmission were rebuilt by Glenn Roberts of GWR Restoration in San Diego, California, a respected marque specialist. The original three-piece engine case was machined and magnafluxed, retaining standard main and rod bearings. The engine was rebuilt using 86mm Mahle pistons and cylinders, while Benton Performance rebuilt the cylinder heads with new valve guides. The transmission was disassembled, the case was tumbled, the first gear was replaced, and the gearbox was reassembled with all new synchros and bearings.

A completely new interior was custom-made and installed by K & H Auto Upholstery, including the front seat with hounds tooth inserts, rear seats, dash, door panels, rear panels, headliner, and German square weave charcal carpets. San Diego Foreign Speedometer restored the gauges, PMB Performance rebuilt the brake calipers, and all four wheels were replated. The original wooden steering wheel was refinished by Bruce Crawford, completing the interior.

Upon completion, this 912 was shown and was highly successful. In 2025, it was entered in the Monterey Works Reunion, 3rd in Class, and later that year shown at the Porsche Club of America San Diego Region Concours, where it achieved 1st in Class and Best in Show.

Power is provided by its numbers-matching 1600cc flat-four engine (Type 616/36), producing 95 horsepower and paired with a five-speed manual transmission (Type 902/1) and four-wheel disc brakes. Complete with two keys, owner's manual, and 45 years of service and ownership history. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire an early short-wheelbase Porsche 912 restored to an exceptionally high standard and retaining its original engine, finished in one of the model's most attractive and seldom-seen color combinations.
