1963 Porsche 356B T6 Coupe
• VIN 122104
• Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
• Completed October 15, 1962
Four-owner, finished in Signal Red over Biege upholstery, this 356B T6 Coupe benefits from long-term Southern California ownership and documented mechanical care throughout its life.
The paintwork is very nice and presentable, with some patina, complemented by period-style pinstriping around the hood handle, headlight buckets, door handles, quarter windows, taillights, and the glove box door. The exterior retains its original brightwork, lenses, and glass, along with a set of Lucas driving lights. The interior features a deep-dish Nardi steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, a wooden shift knob, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. The wheels are 4.5” x 15” chrome-vented wheels with Super hubcaps, fitted to Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR15 tires. The undercarriage is well preserved, solid, and rust-free.
This 356 carries a unique history, having been owned by MGM in Southern California for approximately 37 years after being imported from Germany. During that time, it is said to have been used for period-correct film work, including appearances associated with The Streets of San Francisco. A 356 Club Director later owned the 356 before passing to its fourth owner in the late 2000s. The 356 was reportedly cosmetically restored in the early 2000s and has since been maintained by well-regarded specialists, including Willhoit Auto Restoration and The Parts Shop. On October 9, 2005, Jack Staggs performed a complete engine overhaul, including replacement of pistons and cylinders, cylinder head work, and a full reseal of the engine. In 2014, the 356 showed 2,380 miles and has since been driven to 9,647 miles with continued maintenance.
Powered by a 1600cc flat-four engine (Type 616/36) producing 95 horsepower, paired with a 4-speed manual transmission (Type 741) with four-wheel drum brakes. Recent service work includes suspension and alignment work by Johnson's Alignment in 2020, including rear spring plate service, new bushings, and replacement of the steering dampener. Willhoit Restoration replaced the axle boots that same year. The fuel pump was rebuilt in 2023 by The Parts Shop, which has also performed routine service in recent years, including oil service, parking brake adjustment, and replacement of fuel lines and filters. The 356 is offered with its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, spare wheel, jack, two keys, and four decades of service history. This well-documented T6 356B Coupe, finished in its factory color, offers an appealing combination of period character, long-term ownership, and consistent mechanical care.
