1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa
This beautiful 1991 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 was completed on October 4, 1990 and finished at the factory with Grand Prix White paintwork over a Cashmere Beige and Black interior. Additional options included US market specification, (158) Cassette-Radio Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46, (425) Rear Window Wiper, (454) Automatic Speed Control, and (494) Stereo Amplifier. It was shipped to the United States where it was sold new by authorized Porsche dealer, Ray Catena Imports, Inc., of Edison, NJ.
This 911 remained in New Jersey from new until 2010 when it was sold and moved to North Carolina where it would remain until being purchased by European Collectibles in December 2020. While in North Carolina, service work was entrusted to Leith Porsche in Cary. Receipts from them are on hand and include a “major service” (belts, filters, fluids, spark plugs and valve cover gaskets), a new alternator and several oil changes and batteries. After our purchase, the car was transported to our shop in Costa Mesa, where it was evaluated and found to have 100% original paintwork. As if a low-mileage 964 isn't hard enough to find, most that we come across have had post-factory paintwork, prior accident damage, rust and extensive modifications. This one is completely original and the finishes and materials are in excellent condition. The Grand Prix White paintwork is excellent, the glass has never been replaced and still has all of its factory labels and the Targa top looks and fits very good. The 16” Cup 1 wheels have never been restored and are in very good condition although there is some fading to crests in the center caps. The Michelin tires have less than 1,000 miles on them. The interior is soft, clean and has no major flaws or significant wear. The radio was just updated with a Porsche Classic Communication Management head unit that includes Navigation capabilities, Bluetooth Audio Streaming, Apple Car Play, Sirius XM radio and high-quality hands-free calling. Next, we sent the car out to a 964/993 specialist who did a full inspection and based on his findings, did the following work: oil change, rebuild most of AC system (new compressor, relays and control flaps), install brake rotors, pads and ABS sensors on all four corners. Thanks to prior resealing work done by Leith Porsche, the engine was very dry however minor oil seepage was noted on the chain box covers and transmission selector shaft. On the road, this 911 runs and drives beautifully and is the right mix of modern and vintage. It's a shame so many 964s are becoming a completely different 911 altogether.
