1959 Porsche 356A T2 Super Coupe

• VIN 106682
• Engine No. 83390 - Matching
• Completed - February 23, 1959

This Reutter-bodied, 1959 Porsche 356A Super Coupe, VIN 106682, is finished in its original factory color combination of Silver Metallic (5706) with a newly reupholstered Red leatherette interior. This 356 was completed on 2/23/1959 and then imported to Hoffman Motors in New York, New York.

The Silver Metallic exterior is Porsche's most traditional color and is complemented by a Hirschmann red tip antenna, US overriders, bumperettes, Hella shine-up license plate and reverse light, teardrop taillights, a single-vent rear engine grill, dual side-view mirrors, headlight stone guards, a Reutter badge on the front fender, Vredestein Sprint Classic 165 HR 15 tires, mounted on 15” painted steel wheels and chrome Super hubcaps with Porsche crests. The body stampings on the front hood and rear deck lid match the last digits on the VIN.

The newly reupholstered, Red leatherette interior features chrome reclining seat brackets, an original two-spoke VDM steering wheel, VDO instrumentation, Oatmeal German square-weave carpeting, black rubber floor mats, and a Porsche radio delete plate.

The matching flat-four engine (Type 1600S) was rebuilt by Deutsche Motor Sports of Concord, California in June 2013. The rebuild included new pistons and cylinders, and a complete valve job with new intake, exhaust valves, and valve retainers. New rod bearings, main bearings, flywheel, gland nut, oil cooler, muffler, gaskets, and the crank was turned. Currently, there is less than 1,600 miles on the engine rebuild over the past 10 years. The 356 was also converted to a 12-volt electrical system, with an upgraded Optima Red Top battery installed. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission (Type 716) with a four-wheel hydraulic braking system. Recent restoration included an engine-out service, freshly rebuilt transmission with new synchro's, bearings, and seals, exterior color-sand and buff, and brightwork professionally polished by European Collectibles.
