1962 Porsche 356B Super Twin Grille Roadster

• VIN 89842
• Engine No. 702614 - Matching
• Completed February 27, 1962

Exclusive production run of only 248 T6 D' Ieteren Twin Grill Roadsters spanning September 1961 to March of 1962. This particular Roadster has its matching Super engine, impeccable documentation, and its noteworthy factory color combination of Bali Blue (6212) over Red upholstery. Optional features from the factory include reclining seats.

Receipts on file indicate this Twin Grill Roadster was subjected to a bare metal restoration, completed by Liberty Motors in 2008-2009. After this 356 was repainted, the undercarriage was stripped and undercoated, and all the suspension was detailed. The engine was removed, and all sheet metal was powder-coated to factory specifications. Finally, the 356 received a new Red leather interior, German square weave carpets, and a black canvas soft top.

Although the restoration of the vehicle was completed nearly 15 years ago, the paint remains in exceptional condition with excellent gaps and panel fit. The rubber seals, trim, and brightwork are all in pristine condition. The red leather upholstery shows well and is complemented by a VDM 3-spoke wooden deep dish steering wheel with deluxe horn ring and factory VDO instrumentation. The front bonnet and rear decklid are original, with "614" stamped in their factory locations. KPZ 4 ½” x 15” (date-coded '61) painted wheels have chrome Super hubcaps.

According to the factory build sheet, PC Northwest initially delivered this Twin Grill Roadster to Jim Easterbrook in Blaine, Washington on May 29, 1963. The second owner, Richard Klein from Tacoma, Washington, reportedly purchased this 356 in 1965. A comprehensive written history was prepared by the eighth owner, Mr. Smith, who outlined the entire 356's history, including all previous owners. The Roadster spent some time on the East Coast before returning to the West Coast in 1979, where it has remained in the dry states of California, Oregon, and Arizona. The documentation about this vehicle is extensive and serves as a testament to its unparalleled provenance and authenticity.

Mechanically, it is powered by its matching numbers 1600cc Super engine producing 75 horsepower paired with its matching 4-speed manual transmission (Type 741) with a four-wheel drum braking system. The transmission was rebuilt in 2008, including new synchros, gaskets, and seals. On January 12, 2022, European Auto Techniks in Houston, Texas, performed a brake service, including brake shoe adjustment, bleed the braking system, and resealed rear wheel bearings.

Complete with a copy of factory Porsche Kardex, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, detailed account of previous ownership history, Concours Elite Calendar 2006-2007 Edition, tool kit, date-coded spare wheel, and 20 years of service history. A rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented and numbers-matched coveted Twin Grill Roadster offered in a striking special ordered color combination.
